Background

I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Georgia in private practice. I specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of learning disorders, behavioral problems, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, depression and anxiety disorders in children, adolescents and adults. I particularly enjoy assessments where I can help solve the mystery of how to best help students who are struggling academically. I also love working with couples, especially in the areas of communication and parenting.

I obtained my B.A. degree in Psychology in 1981 from Eastern Illinois University. I obtained my Masters degree in 1984 and my Ph.D. degree in 1987 from The University of Georgia. While at the University of Georgia, I studied neuropsychology, school psychology and clinical child psychology. My dissertation topic was: "Sustained attention in children with attention deficit disorder with and without hyperactivity". I completed my clinical psychology internship at Vanderbilt's Child Psychiatry Clinic. Upon graduation, I worked at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis dealing with medically fragile children and their families. From 1989 thru 2006 I worked with The Behavioral Institute of Atlanta, a private practice group, specializing in children, adolescents and adults. In 1996, I became a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist and have worked with many couples since, primarily focusing on communication and parenting issues. In 2007, I became a solo practitioner in private practice.

I am a member of the American Psychological Association and the Georgia Psychological Association.

Personally, I am happily married and have two wonderful daughters in elementary school. My husband is a management consultant and we own an investment real estate business.
